Fraud Prevention – Identification and Prevention

This  session provides a practical, easy-to-understand guide to recognizing and avoiding common forms of cybercrime that target older adults. Andrew will present real-world examples of phishing emails, text-message scams, fake tech-support calls, romance and investment scams, identity theft, and fraudulent websites, with an emphasis on the warning signs that can help you spot a scam before it’s too late. Participants will also learn simple steps for protecting their accounts and personal information, including creating strong passwords, using two-factor authentication, keeping devices updated, and knowing what to do if they think they’ve been scammed. The goal is not to make you afraid of technology, but to give you the confidence and practical tools to use it safely.
